Hatching eggs is one of the most important things when it comes to endgame Pokemon games. Everyone wants to get the perfect IVs, hidden abilities, and egg moves to really get the most out of their ideal Pokemon. Sometimes we just breed our Pokemon for Pokedex completion purposes. For example, Manaphy can be bred to make Phione. Here are the best ways to hatch eggs fast in Sparkling Diamond and Sparkling Pearl.

How to Hatch Eggs Fast in Pokemon Sparkle Diamond and Sparkle Pearl

First, even to produce an egg in BDSP you will need to breed pokemon. Instead of having a male and female Pokemon, use a Ditto. It's the ultimate breeding machine, bad as that sounds. Put your Pokémon of choice in daycare with the Ditto and walk around for a few hundred steps.

Monitor the progress of your egg creation with the Egg Monitor, a Poketch application given to you by the nursery people. Tap anywhere on this page to see your Pokemon's status.

Once you get your egg, change your Poketch app to go on pedometer. This keeps track of the number of steps you take. It's a great way to show how far you've come to hatch your egg. You can get it from Jubilife City.

Now that you have an egg, old tried and true tricks from the old mainline Pokemon games work wonders here in Sinnoh Remakes. This includes having a Pokemon in your party that has the Flame body capacity.

The following Pokémon may have the Flame Body ability as well as where they can be obtained:

  • Slugma - Stark Mountain, Grand Souterrain
  • Macargo - Stark Mountain, Grand Souterrain
  • Magby – Grand Underground (Scintillante Perle exclusive)
  • magmar – evolve from Magby (Sparkling Pearl)
  • Magmortier – swap Magmar while holding the Magmarizer
  • ponyta (Hidden Ability) – Route 206, 210, 211, 214, 215, Grand Underground
  • to Apply (Hidden Ability) – Evolve from Ponyta
  • Moltres (Hidden Ability) – Ramanas Park (Scintillante Perle exclusive)
  • Heatran (Hidden Ability) – Stark Mountain

Since you have a Pokemon with the Flame Body ability, place them next to the egg you want to hatch faster in your party. It cuts the steps needed to hatch the egg in half.

Another old tried and tested trick to maximize egg hatching still works in Sparkling Diamond and Sparkling Pearl. Cycling from Hwy 210 south through Solaceon Town and down to the lower part of Hwy 209 then the backup works wonders. The optimal line is about 127 paces from top to bottom. All you have to do is tap up or down once you hit a wall to do it again.

There is another way that is more interactive and slightly faster than the one mentioned above. Because there is a delay when doing a 180 on your bike, it is actually faster to cycle in the fastest gear in circles in open space. This eliminates the delay between side changes and provides a much more consistent step count.

Pokemon Shiny Diamond and Shiny Pearl are now available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
