Pokemon Go Player discovers GPS exploit how to hatch eggs without moving

Pokémon Go has been a staple in the mobile gaming community for several years, gaining immense popularity for its unique mechanics and systems within the Pokémon franchise. Recently, a Pokémon Go player discovered a strange glitch that allowed players to hatch eggs without moving while high in the air. This exploit has now spread on social media and more and more players have mentioned their experience of having it.

The Main Egg Hatching Report

So I recently moved into a pokemongo high rise building

Reddit user 'u/scusie__' talked about recently moving into a high-rise building and being able to hatch a 2-mile egg in "less than 10" minutes. Notably, it would allow users to take advantage of the short time to hatch eggs with little effort and reap all the rewards from their eggs. A 2 kilometer egg would typically take around 20-25 minutes to hatch at a steady walking pace; so the time drop when you're just sitting in a high altitude area is significant.

This “feat” will not only work on 2 km eggs; but all eggs, as Reddit user “MJSTpt” claims: “GPS drift is very common in high-rise buildings.” This seems to indicate that at any altitude a GPS drift can occur, however, it could be related to certain buildings or the materials contained inside but this remains to be confirmed.

The Pokemon Go Glitch is a few years old

After further researching the topic of GPS drift in gaming, there was a website I came across called 'Gamepress.gg' where an article talking about GPS drift gave more evidence of the prevalence of this problem even at low altitudes in the past and Niantic's strategy to defend against it. Another Pokémon Go player, 'Caleb.Fitness' said the following in a comment:

I found the drift to be most consistent when I was connected to WiFi and my phone was directly above my wireless router on the first floor. I was able to drift my character 7-8 km at night while I slept. However niantic have gotten smart to exploit walking drift. Now after about 45 mins of leaving my phone idle, the game gets an error message, so now I only walk 0,6-0,8 km during that time.

This post was almost four and a half years old, showing that the “feat” being talked about now has indeed been seen in the game before. For now, players can gain an immense level of satisfaction sitting in their own home and letting the Pokémon Go eggs hatch on their own. Pokémon their hatching will certainly be independent!

Pokémon Go is available for free download now on IOS and Android.
