If you're looking to relax, farm, and collect a load of pets, sure.

Along with the news of today's big patch 6.2 reveal for Final Fantasy XIV comes some additional details about the game's upcoming Island Sanctuary mode. brought us a lot of new content, but perhaps one of the most exciting aspects of the upcoming gameplay features is the addition of the new single-player island mode.

Island Sanctuary will essentially give players their own private island, and it's not a small piece of land either. However, to gain access to their very own piece of paradise, players will first need to ensure that they complete the Endwalker 6.0 patch base storyline. After that, they can head to their own custom beach, where an entire island will be waiting for them to explore and create their own.

The new mode essentially adds Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley-style mechanics to Final Fantasy XIV, whereby players can use their island as a home while they plant and farm, harvest resources, and build their own little hideaway. , as well as other buildings and structures related to agriculture. The island itself will be a non-combat zone and exploration will be boosted with increased mount speed, so getting out into the wilds of your own little haven should be a lot easier.

To add to the farming and crafting, players will also be able to collect and use the wide variety of wild animals they find on the island. These animals can be brought home and used for resource gathering and production or simply allowed to roam your island safely while players amass their collection of pets and wild animals.

To help players get a head start on their new life on their island sanctuary, there will be around two hours of tutorials, according to Final Fantasy XIV producer and director Naoki Yoshida. Basically, there will be an awful lot for players to spend their time learning as they embark on a new, relaxing journey through their island exploits. Players will also be able to upgrade their island as they progress, granting them rewards redeemable for unique mounts and glamour, to name a few. Island NPCs will also eventually form a player's minion roster and be on hand to do farming and harvesting work across the island as players see fit.

Final Fantasy XIV will see the launch of patch 6.2 "Buried Memory" on August 23rd. To get a head start on the massively popular MMORPG, which offers a free trial up to level 60, you can check out the new starter series that just dropped on YouTube to get caught up in the lore and gameplay involved.
