Field Research tasks are quests available by spinning Pokéstops in Pokémon GO. They reward the player with an item or encounter with a Pokémon, as well as a daily stamp; collect 7 stamps and trainers can get the “Research Breakthrough” reward. In October, Research Breakthrough introduces Yamask, who now has a chance to be Shiny!
It's worth noting that the field research provided by Pokéstops is the same for everyone until the day resets, so your local community members can tell you where certain tasks are. The exception is if you currently have a scan task, in which all tasks will be the same for everyone else who also has a scan task. Best Field Research Tasks of October 2021
Catch 18 Dark-type Pokémon et Catch 18 Ghost-type Pokemon are definitely the best Field Research tasks this month. They both reward Spiritomb, which only spawns in October, does not spawn in the wild, and cannot be hatched from eggs. According to The Road to Silph, Spiritomb is in the "Permaboost" category for shiny rates, meaning it has about a 1 in 64 chance of being shiny. This is a much higher chance than the base shine rate, which is around 1 in 500.
