How to Get the Touch of Malice Catalyst in Destiny 2

How to Get the Touch of Malice Catalyst in Destiny 2

While collecting the Touch of Malice Destiny 2 was already a treat for many players, the gifts keep coming. Like many other Exotics in Destiny 2, Touch of Malice has a Catalyst that can enhance the weapon beyond its normal state. Many players noticed that the Catalyst was not unlocked through a questline or world drop, but was listed as earned during the King's Fall raid. Let's see how you can get the Touch of Malice catalyst in Destiny 2.

How to Get the Touch of Malice Catalyst in Destiny 2

Many players might think that you only need to complete the King's Fall raid on the new master mode to get the Touch of Malice catalyst. Fortunately, you don't need to complete such a difficult challenge, but you will have to solve a few puzzles during the King's Fall raid. Obviously, someone in your squad will need to have a Touch of Malice without the Acquired Catalyst for the puzzles to be activated.

First Puzzle - Relic Encounter

The first puzzle you will need to complete is just as you load into the raid. Before you get to the Relic encounter, you'll want to run to where the portal spawns at the end of the encounter and look to your left. You should see a building with multiple entrances. Enter this building and you should see a glowing plate to stand on.

The person who wants to get their Touch of Malice catalyst will need to stand on this plate with the weapon equipped in order to start the puzzle. Once they get on the board, you should see a notification that Relics have spawned. There are now four Relics that have spawned in random locations in the opening area for your team to find. The two relics that start the first encounter aren't included in the four new relics you need to find.

Once all the relics have been found, you'll want to assign a person to each relic and have them stand ready to be chosen. Everyone will want to pick up their relic at the same time as this starts a timer. Before time runs out, each of the four relics must be taken to the Thrall Statue behind the portal spawn point.

The two players who don't carry Relics should focus on taking out Shriekers that target players with Relics. A good scout rifle should help take out Shriekers easily. Be sure to wait at the Statue of Thrall for every relic to be there before soaking them all. You'll know you've succeeded if you receive a notification that the statue is buzzing with energy. Continue the raid as normal until you reach Golgoroth's Labyrinth for the next stage.

Second Puzzle – The Labyrinth

Before you reach the Golgoroth encounter, you'll need to fight your way through its maze. Inside the maze there is a secret chest which you can get by activating five plates in the maze in the correct order. To continue the catalyst puzzle, you will need to unlock the secret chest. Once you get your loot from the chest, you'll want to look for a plate like the one you were standing on before the relic encounter.

The plaque should be among the crystals near the chest. Once you find the plate, the person looking for the catalyst will need to stand on the plate with Touch of Malice equipped again. This will again cause four relics to appear in the maze, and you'll need to dispatch everyone to find them. Make sure they are all picked up at once once they are found, as this will again trigger a timer for all relics to be dropped.

Everyone will have to bring their relic to the exit of the labyrinth. Near the exit, you'll want to look at the holes in the ground. One of these holes will not be a pit of death but rather the statue of Thrall in which you must plunge all the relics. After soaking the relics, you can continue the raid and fight the next boss.

Third Puzzle – The Wall

Once you've defeated Golgorath, you'll come to everyone's favorite part of King's Fall, The Walls. You'll want to activate all of the dishes in that room as normal, then you should notice that the last plate will continue to glow. This is the plate that the person seeking the Catalyst will have to stand on to spawn all four Relics all over the room again.

Once everyone has picked up their relics, the same timer will start over. Everyone will have to return to the beginning of the hall and deposit their relics at the statue. It may seem difficult, but once you start the challenge, additional platforms will appear throughout the room to make returning easier. Team members not carrying Relics will want to provide cover by killing any Shriekers that spawn in the room.

Once everyone has dunked their relics, new platforms will spawn that will take you and your team to the basketball court's Easter egg room from the original raid. Everyone will want to go there to complete the final stages of the puzzle and get the catalyst for whoever gets it.

Fourth Puzzle - Basketball Court

This part will start as soon as everyone enters the room. A timer will start and several relics will appear in the room. Everyone will want to start looking for the relics and plunging them into the statue of Thrall in the middle of the room. There will be more than four relics in this room, so after soaking a relic, you'll want to look around the room and start looking for another relic.

As you and your team dunk relics, the pillars on the side of the room will begin to glow. This shows how many relics you have soaked and you will need to keep soaking relics until the pillars are fully lit.

Once the pillars are fully lit, the catalyst will be rewarded for all team members who need it. This means you can gather a whole team of people who need the Catalyst and do them all in one go. Not all fireteam members need to stand on a plate to activate one of the puzzles in order to receive the catalyst upon completion. Now that you have the catalyst for Touch of Malice, you can go for other Raid Exotics like the Divinity.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Google Stadia.
