The biggest change Destiny 2 seen this season was the redesign of the solar class. Much like Stasis and Void, you need shards and skins to change how the class works, and one of those shards everyone's been waiting for is the Ember of Empyrean. Most players expected it to work like Void in Destiny 2's final season, with shards unlocking as the season progresses. However, this season's shards are different. Let's see how you can get Ember of Empyrean and the other Sun Fragments in Destiny 2.
How to Get Empyrean Ember in Destiny 2
While players expected the rest of the Sun Fragments to unlock as the season progressed, there was something special about them. Compared to the Void Fragments that were added last season, they weren't shown until they became available. However, the solar shards we are locked can be seen in the customization menu.
This caused many players to wonder what was going on and eventually Bungie explained what their plan was. Bungie has announced that there will be a contest to unlock the missing shards. In order to unlock the Shards, Guardians will need to complete a total of 20 million Nightmare Containment Activities. Once these are completed Ember of Empyrean, Char's Ember, ember of asheset Ember of Wonder will be available for purchase in the Tower.
Each Guardian present in the instance when Nightmare Containment is complete will count as one towards the total completed count. This means that working with a full team of three will count as three achievements towards the 20 million needed. As you work to unlock the missing shards, you can take the time to farm a Divine Austringer to kill two birds with one stone.
The real question now is whether more shards and solar aspects will be added as the season progresses, or if once we unlock the missing shards, that will be all we have.
