Guide Valheim the list of all armor to craft (what are the best armors in the game)

As you progress through the Valheim game, you are going to have access to new crafting blueprints that include a whole list of armors that will give your character more resistance once they have been crafted. This will allow you to hold out more easily against the onslaught of monsters that you may encounter in the different biomes of the game (black forest, swamps or even plains). In this guide, we have listed all the armor in the game that you can craft, the materials that are needed for each of the crafts and how you can obtain these materials. You will be able to make the best armor in Valheim yourself, we will also see what it takes to improve each armor and we will tell you for each complete set the bonus you get.

How to unlock new armor crafting in Valheim:

One important thing to clarify, as long as you haven't found the right materials during your explorations, the game does not give you access to the different manufacturing plans. In this guide, we tell you what materials are needed and where you can find them while exploring your world. In any case, you will need to craft yourself a crafting table (workbench) and a forge, both of which you will need to upgrade to the maximum level to take full advantage of all your armor. Here is the list of armor in the game!

☆ Note 1 – If you want to make things easier for yourself and see the full potential of the game, you can also play with the different Valheim commands or cheat codes that are available here: Valheim Guide How To Activate The Command Console To Use Cheat Codes.

Fully craft leather armor:

  • Leather tunic (6 deer hides)
  • Leather pants (6 deer hides)
  • Leather helmet (6 deer hides)
  • Deerskin Cloak (4 Deerskin and 5 Bone Fragments)

You can collect deer hides by hunting deer in the "grassland" areas of Valheim. These wild animals tend to run away when you approach, you can use silent mode to slip away without getting caught or hunt them from a distance with a bow and arrow.

To craft the Deerskin Cloak, you will also need to find Bone Fragments. You will get them by killing skeletons in the "black forests" areas of Valheim or by exploring the burial chambers still in the same area.

You will be able to improve this whole armor thanks to your crafting table. To reach the max level of armor, you will need more than 150 deer hides and more than 120 bone fragments. By equipping the basic leather armor, your defense is fixed at 7 points, at the maximum level your character will have 28 defense points. Having the leather armor fully upgraded and fully upgraded doesn't seem to give your character any additional benefit or penalty.

Fully craft Troll Armor:

  • Troll Leather Tunic (5 Troll Hides)
  • Troll Leather Pants (5 Troll Hides)
  • Troll Leather Helmet (5 Troll Hides and 3 Bone Fragments)
  • Trollhide Cloak (10 Trollhides and 10 Bone Fragments)

You will be able to collect all the materials needed to craft this armor by exploring the Dark Forest biome. Troll skins are dropped by gigantic all-blue trolls walking through the forest… It's best to be equipped with a bow and a good stock of arrows to defeat the beast. A troll drops at least 5 skins on you when you manage to kill it. For bone fragments, all you have to do is kill skeletons or search the burial chambers of the Black Forest.

In Valheim Early Access, you can upgrade the full set of troll armor to level 3. Beyond that, you need to have a 6-star level crafting table, which is not not possible at the time of publication of this guide. To reach level 3 of the complete set, you will need almost 60 troll hides and more than 30 bone fragments. At max level you will have 33 points of armor while wearing this set, as well as 4 pieces of troll armor applies a beneficial effect to your character, namely that your movements will be more discreet (+25% in stealth) .

Fully craft the bronze armor:

  • Bronze plate cuirass (5 bronzes and 2 deer hides)
  • Bronze Plate Leggings (5 bronze and 2 deer hide)
  • Bronze helmet (5 bronzes and 2 deer hides)

To create the bronze ingots that are needed to craft this armor, you will need to have defeated the first boss in Valheim "Eikthyr" and then mined tin or copper from the veins found only in the biome. of the black forest. You will also need to build a coal furnace, a foundry and a forge.
When it's done, transform the molten copper and tin with the foundry into bronze thanks to the forge. You will be able to improve the bronze armor up to level 4 which represents almost 70 bronze ingots as well as 6 deer skins.

Be careful, by wearing Valheim bronze armor, your character moves less quickly, a penalty which is compensated by a high defense since at level 1 the armor gives you 24 defense points and at max level 42 defense points.

Fully Craft Iron Armor:

  • Iron scale armor (20 irons and 2 deer hides)
  • Ironplate Leggings (20 irons and 2 deer hides)
  • Iron helmet (20 irons and 2 deer hides)

To craft this armor you will need Iron Ingots which can only be obtained once you defeat the second boss in the game known as the Elder which you can summon at his altar which is in the black forest biome. You will then have to search the crypts of the swamp biome to go and extract the scrap metal there, which will allow you to melt down scrap metal in the smelter using the coal as fuel.

Just like the bronze armor, the complete iron set can be upgraded at the forge up to 4-star level. Although offering great defense, iron armor is very heavy and therefore reduces your movement speed by 5% per piece equipped. At level 1, the armor offers 42 points of protection while at level 4 you will have 60 points of defense.
Note, however, that to reach the maximum level of the iron set, you will need a total of 150 iron ingots, which represents a very significant grind…

☆ Note 2 – You will have more information on the second boss of Valheim, the crypts and the scrap metal on our dedicated guide available at this address: Valheim Guide Where to Find The Crypts Key To Open The Swamp Dungeon And Collect Scrap Metal .

Fully Craft Silver/Wolf Armor:

  • Wolf breastplate (20 silver bars, 5 wolf skins and a chain)
  • Wolf Leggings (20 Silver Ingots, 5 Wolf Pelts, and 4 Wolf Fangs)
  • Drac helmet (20 silver ingots, 2 wolf skins and 2 Drac trophies)
  • Wolf Fur Cloak (6 Wolf Pelts, 4 Silver Ingots, and 1 Wolf Trophy)

While wearing this armor, you will become immune to the cold, which will allow you to climb mountains full of snow without taking damage. But obviously, to make this armor, you will have to go to these famous mountains, where it is possible to extract silver ore. To detect silver, you will need the Wishbone, an item that is dropped by the third boss in Valheim "Mass of Bones" which you can fight in the swamps.

Wolf pelts and wolf trophies are also obtained from wolves that roam only in the mountains biome.
Once you find raw silver ore, you need to smelt it with the smelter which needs to be powered by coal. To fully upgrade the silver armor of Valheim you will need patience and courage since you will need nearly 180 silver ingots, more than 50 wolf skins, 10 wolf fangs, 2 Drac trophies, 1 trophy of wolf and a chain! Full armor gives you 61 base defense points while at 4 star level your defense will increase to 82 points.

Fully craft padded armor (the best armor in Valheim):

  • Padded Breastplate (10 Iron Ingots and 20 Linen Cloth)
  • Stuffed Leggings (10 Iron Ingots and 20 Linen Cloth)
  • Padded Helmet (10 Iron Ingots and 15 Linen Cloths)
  • Lox Cape (6 Lox Hides and 2 Silver Bars)
  • Cloth Cloak (20 Linens and 1 Silver Bar)

Padded armor is the current best armor you can craft while playing Valheim. This armor can be upgraded up to level 4. You will need iron which you will find in the crypts of the swamps and you will need linen cloths which you can only find by exploring the most dangerous biome of Valheim, the plains!
You will find plantations in the small villages that are in the plains (not to be confused with the grassland biome). You will also need a weaving wheel to work linen into linen cloth. To fully upgrade padded armor in Valheim, you will need more than 120 pieces of iron near 60 linens. At level 1, the armor gives you 82 defense points while by completely improving it with the forge you will have 100 defense points which makes padded armor the best protection in the game.

For the cape of Lox, it will be necessary to hunt the enormous creatures which are in the biome of the plains. If you have ever crossed the path of the merchant, in the dark forest with his huge pet, know that it is a Lox.
