Genshin Impact's toughest enemy isn't Childe, but material farming. If story gameplay can provide at least 600 hours of gameplay, just farming good artifacts can double that time. Farming is tedious and boring, but can be worth it in the end when Zhongli casually deals 1 damage to normal attacks.
Jumping into the depths of farming can be overwhelming. But like everything in life, it becomes bearable when you have a plan. There are no rules for farming, but there are ways to cut down on the time you waste.

Domain Level IV or V
Don't bother farming until you can get to the highest realm level. The field will be more difficult, but you are guaranteed to have at least one 5-star artifact per race. This is not the case for any other domain level. Your whole team doesn't need to be level 90 to win the challenge, anyone level 80 and above will do.
Winning comes down to using the recommended items and taking advantage of the buffs the estate gives you. Don't bring Catalyst to a bonus DMG physical fight.
Condensed Resin
Make sure you are carrying the maximum amount of condensed resin. Condensed Resin can be crafted at Alchemy Crafting Tables using a Crystal Fly Core and 40 Resins. Using Condensed Resin on Domains and Ley Lines automatically doubles your rewards. Fight once, get double the price. You can carry a maximum of 5 condensed resins at a time, meaning you need 200 resins to craft all five. That's 40 resins more than your total number of resins.
Use Transient Resin or Fragment Resin to immediately restore 60 resin points. Use the Transient Resin first, they only last for two weeks before they fade. You can buy one every week from the Serenitea Pot. Whenever you use Fragment Resin, be sure to immediately use Restored Resin or craft Condensed Resin. Your base resin will restore itself over time and waiting is the bane of a farmer's existence. Don't waste it.
Choose your players
Focus on farming for one or two characters at a time. There are many sets and some are aimed at specific characters. Each realm contains two different sets, so look at what the realm has to offer and figure out which characters could best use the set. For example, the Valley of Remembrance in Mondstadt has the Viridescent Venerer and Maiden Beloved sets. If you have an Anemo Sub or Main DPS and a Support Healer in your team, you can focus on this area for good artifacts.
Once you're ready, it's time to farm. Put the TV in the background, it will take time. May the odds always be in your favour.
