The next Housing Lottery is postponed until the issue is resolved.
Final Fantasy 14 developers, Square Enix, have issued an apology to fans over an ongoing issue with the game's real estate lottery that's preventing players from winning. The issue is the result of a bug that causes players to receive messages that either no entrant is in the lottery or the winning number is zero, which means no player can actually win. Players who have joined the lottery have repeatedly lost, prompting the developers to investigate the maddening issue.
The next lottery round was supposed to take place in a few days on April 20, but due to the issue, Square Enix pulled the event. All future cycles have been postponed until the issue is sufficiently resolved. It's unclear what exactly is causing the malfunction, but the game's producer and director Naoki Yoshida said in a message to fans:
First, we understand that this is a major issue and are prioritizing our investigation of the matter. We are trying to identify the problem in the corresponding program; however, as the process is very complex and there are many models involved for lottery conditions, it will take some time to identify the problem. We apologize for the inconvenience caused to our players. We will continue to work to identify and fix the cause of the issue so that the lottery system correctly determines the winner and displays the appropriate results.
Final Fantasy 14 first launched in 2013 on the PS3 and was later ported to both the PS4 and PS5. It's an incredibly popular MMORPG that continues to entertain fans with new content on an almost annual basis. The most recent expansion titled Endwalker was released in December 2021 to rave reviews, being considered one of the best game content to launch last year. Definitely worth checking out for any Final Fantasy or RPG fan. Fingers crossed, the housing lottery is back in no time.
