Choose a data center in Final Fantasy XIV seals your fate when it comes to playing through the game. Unless you want to spend some money to transfer your character to another data center or create a new character in another data center , you will be stuck with where you choose.
It sucked because if you had friends who were in another data center, there was no way to play with them. However, hope was on the horizon. With the addition of global tours, the promise of data center tours has been made. Thus allowing you to play with friends in a different data center. Now that Data Center Tours have been added to Final Fantasy XIV, many players will be visiting and playing with friends. Let's see how you can use the data center tour feature in Final Fantasy XIV
How to Visit Other Data Centers in Final Fantasy XIV
Visiting a data center is quite simple, you just need to be near an Aetheryte. Simply teleport to any town or use your return ability to be taken directly to an Aetheryte. Then you have to interact with it to bring up its menu. Then you just need to choose Data Center Tour option and select the data center and server you want to visit.
There are a few restrictions that will apply to you while you are visiting the data center. You cannot join or create a free business and you will not earn any business credit for your own business. You may not use, join, create or view Linkshells during your visit. You won't be able to access your deposits, but they will still sell the items you put up before your visit. It also looks like you can still use market panels in other data centers, so you can take advantage of lower prices if you can find them.
You also cannot buy housing or host/attend an Eternal Bonding Ceremony while visiting the Data Center. You can also create in another data center, but the collection is limited because you cannot access legendary or untouched nodes. You also need to be Apple to access the new dungeon types on a Data Center Tour once these are added to the game.
Outside of these restrictions, almost everything else is fair game. Go run dungeons or raid with friends from another data center. If you want to access another data center at the time of this article's publication, you will encounter a small problem. At the time of writing, the data center tour has been suspended due to the unexpected number of people wishing to visit other data centers.
