Every January (since 2017), Diablo 3 players can participate in a special anniversary event called "The Dark Age of Tristram". From January 4 to February 1, a portal will appear in Sanctuary allowing you to go through all the dungeons of the cathedral of Diablo first of the name in a RetroVision style.
Don't miss this opportunity to get all the rewards related to the "Dark Age of Tristram" event. You will be able to leave with a legendary gem, ornaments including two mascots and it will also be an opportunity for you to unlock all the achievements related to the vent. ☆ Note – The starting point of the quest will be to get all Cultist Pages for an achievement. To do this, you will need to hunt down Temporal Priests throughout Sanctuary. Where is Tristram's Dark Age Portal in Diablo 3?
Once you have collected the seven pages of Cultists, go to Act 1 in the "Old Ruins" area where you will see a strange red pentagram appear on the map... This is a sign that the portal to the ancient village of Tristram is open.
Go inside to revisit Diablo's first cathedral of the name or you can go back through the 16 floors of the cathedral called the Labyrinth. As you progress, you will fight many bosses and elite enemies. The opportunity to recover different types of equipment such as the "Butcher's Cleaver" which will give you access to new transmogrifications from "Myriam".
The goal of this quest is to go through the whole maze in order to kill "the Black Lord" who is on the sixteenth floor. By doing so, you will unlock the legendary gem “Red Soul Shard” which you can socket on a helmet / helm by going to “Shen the Greedy”.
This gem produces an explosion with fireballs periodically dealing 12% weapon damage to enemies hit by the fireballs. At rank 500, the gem will produce an effect that will remove resource costs and reduce skill cooldowns by 25% each time you level up with your character. Note that the "Red Soul Shard" gem also gives you access to a special transmogrification with "Myriam".
How to get the Spoiled Mushroom and what is it for?
When you get to the ninth floor of Tristram's Dark Age Labyrinth, you'll find a 'spoiled mushroom' on your way that you can use to collect the 'witch's decoction'. To do this, exit the maze and return to Tristram (the retro version) through the portal of the "old ruins" area of Act 1. At the exit of the village, you will arrive in the old hut of Adria where there is a cauldron.
You will need to place the “spoiled mushroom” there to get the “witch decoction” in return. Turn around and go back to Tristram… You will see several corpses on the ground, you will have to interact with them in order, Farnham to get the “Drunkard's Debt”, Ogden to get the “Letter from Garda”, Pepin for Obtain "The Healer's Prescription" and Griswold the Blacksmith to obtain the Legendary Blueprint for "Wirt's Leg".
Open your inventory and use the blueprint for "Wirt's Leg" to teach blacksmith "Haedrig Eamon" how to make this legendary mace. Go back to "the new Tristram" and have "Wirt's leg" crafted in the weapons / maces menu (level 1 item) in exchange for 1 gold coins and 000 reusable coins.
What to do with Wirt's leg?
Now that you've crafted the item, you'll need to use the 'recycle' function in the blacksmith and recycle Wirt's leg to get the 'star map'. This old map features a hoof mark and the numbers 2, 1 and 3.
★ Note 2 – There is a bug with Wirt's leg sometimes refusing to give the “star map” to the player when using the “recycle” option. If this happens to you, try quitting the game and starting over.
With the star map in your pocket, take again the portal to the dark age of Tristram in "the old ruins" of act 1 and return to where there was the cauldron. You will see three dead cows on the ground… Interact respectively with the cow in the middle, on the left one and the right one to open a passage to “the abandoned farm”.
Inside, the level of the cows where there is a chest in the middle, "Wirt's chest" which will give you access to a mascot, "the royal calf".
How do I get the Butcher pet during the Dark Age of Tristram event?
A second mascot is up for grabs during this Diablo 3 anniversary event, for this you must create a new character (level 1) and go defeat the end of the dark age boss of Tristram "the Black Lord" by SOLO which is located at the end of the labyrinth (floor 16). You will unlock the achievement "a disturbing red veil disturbs your sight" and will unlock the mascot "The butcher".
