Resident Evil Re:Verse certainly wasn't the multiplayer hit with fans that Capcom was hoping for. Despite this, Capcom released its first major update for the game adding a new map, a new character, and two new skins.

Map variety was still bare in Inverse with the game where players only compete in the Racoon Police Department or the Baker Mansion. The latest update brings Village, an excerpt from Resident Evil Village's European town, to the map rotation. The village map will be centered around the Maiden of War statue in the center of the village providing a large level of open combat while providing cover in many places.

A new playable character also joins the Inverse roster. What favorite series did they decide to drop in this update to really attract new players, you might be wondering. Is it Albert Wesker? Sheva Alomar? Maybe even Karl Heisenberg? Well, it's the tundra! Wait, who is Tundra? Tundra is a member of Chris Redfield's Hound Wolf Squad that you would have seen at the end of Resident Evil Village. Capcom describes his abilities as "highly technical...which confound his opponents before unleashing a devastating attack."

Along with the new character, there are two additional DLC character skins for Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine. Chris' "Gun Show" skin sees him sporting the iconic BSAA outfit from Resident Evil 5 while Jill wears her battle costume from Resident Evil 5.

For those who want more, a deluxe Premium Pass is also available, which includes skins for Leon Kennedy and Ada Wong, as well as additional rewards for Battle Pass challenges.

Being delayed on more than one occasion Resident Evil Re:Verse failed to grip the player base beyond anything other than playing a game or two. This could be due to Inverse's release falling very close to Resident Evil Village's winter expansion update. However, given the grievances of many players and outlets regarding the multiplayer mode, only time will tell if the latest update can attract old players and even entice new players to try out the mode.

This isn't the first time Capcom has released a multiplayer mode alongside its most recent titles. Resident Evil 3 Remake included a PvP mode known as Resident Evil Resistance. That didn't captivate gamers either, so it'll be interesting to see if Capcom continues to support Resident Evil Re:Verse in the future given how quickly it's reduced support for The Resistance.
