Friendship Day will apparently be an annual event, with the day billed as the “first”, but clearly not the last. The event celebrates the in-game Friend mechanic as well as Grass-type Pokémon, such as Tangela and Chikorita. There's a lot going on, especially with the active bonuses that will be available during and after the event for some. So, check out all the information below.

When is friendship day, how long does it last

Friendship Day begins Saturday, April 24 at 11 a.m. in your local time zone. The majority of the event then only lasts three hours, ending at 14 p.m. also for your local time zone. However, some aspects of the event will continue for a few hours, such as increasing the chances of becoming lucky friends, as shown below.

What are the bonuses for friendship day

Here are all the active bonuses for the Friendship Day event in Pokémon GO.



    • Trading distance limit has been increased to 40 km
    • 3x Catch XP
    • Incense and decoys activated after 11am on Saturday will last for 3 hours
    • Increased the number of wild spawns for some Grass-type Pokemon (see below)
    • A collection challenge will be live
      • Reward 175000 XP (can use lucky egg for 2x)
    • Increased chances of receiving a Lucky Pokemon from a trade
      • Lasts until 17 p.m. on Saturday

Which Pokémon appear for Friendship Day

Here is a list of Pokémon that will appear more frequently in the wild during the Friendship Day event. Use an incense or a decoy to see more and try to get a shiny or complete the collection challenge.
