Overseer 2 has been one of the most anticipated games of the year thanks to the overwhelming popularity of the first title in 2016. Now that Overseer 2's beta is finally here, however, some gamers are a bit confused about the where they can and cannot access the game.
The main reason for the confusion is likely due to Microsoft's plan to acquire Activision Blizzard, which has been at the forefront of many gaming conversations lately thanks to Sony's outspoken refusal. When Microsoft bought Zenimax in 2021, the company made it clear that titles coming out of Zenimax's studios like Bethesda Game Studio and Arkane Studios would be Xbox exclusives, so questions about the platform options of Activision Blizzard games like Overseer 2 and Diablo 4 have been on the minds of many gaming enthusiasts.
Where to play Overseer 2
Despite Microsoft's public plans to acquire Activision Blizzard, the deal still hasn't been done because there are many checks and balances needed during major corporate mergers. Because of this, Overseer 2 is available on platforms outside of the Xbox ecosystem. Even though the deal was done at this point, Microsoft said it might be a bit more lenient about which Activision Blizzard games will be exclusive, implying that the studios' biggest releases will likely remain cross-platform.

Don't be fooled, the Waypoint Pack is simply a collection of in-game items that do not affect your ability to access the free version of the game. In the Waypoint Pack, you will gain access to the Premium Battle Pass for the first season of the game, seven legendary skins, five epic skins, 2 Coin Oversight (the game's premium currency), and a player icon. While there's certainly a lot of content included in the Waypoint Pack, it's completely optional and not required to start playing.
If you're not looking to purchase the Waypoint Pack, you'll need to grab the Origins version of the game. Because Blizzard pushes the Waypoint Pack so hard, finding the free, Origins edition is a bit boring, but, if you seek, you can find it. Hopefully over time finding the free version of the game becomes easier as some of the issues that come with game launches are resolved.
