Apex Legends Pro saves disconnected opponent in $2 million tournament

ImperialHal is the true legend of the tournament.

In the recent Apex Legends Global Series Championship: 2022, TSM player ImperialHal made headlines when he refused to take a shot on an opposing team player who had disconnected.

During a match at the tournament, a Team SCARZ player was spotted standing away from the action, completely still. Noticing this, ImperialHal told his teammates on TSM not to fire as he was clearly disconnected or having issues.

You can watch the exchange below.

Tournaments like these usually don't have exact rules on what to do in this situation, so TSM's sportsmanship caught the eye of viewers who sympathized with the disconnected player. It's lucky that in this case, the SCARZ player was disconnected and didn't use a manipulation strategy. Ultimately, TSM and SCARZ were able to advance to the next round after that day.

The Apex Legends Global Series is more than just a casual tournament, the total prize pool is $2 million, so that good sportsmanship could have literally cost TSM. This potential cost did not go unnoticed and only underlined the good sportsmanship of ImperialHal, despite all the money at stake.

While I'd love to say this story has a fairy tale ending with one of these two teams winning the entire tournament, neither TSM nor Scarz were in the top 5. TSM went home with a prize $72 in 000th place, while SCARZ took home $7 in 24th.

DarkZero eSports took gold and the lion's share of the prize pool with $500.

Apex Legends is a free-to-play Battle Royale-style game (or "looter shooter" as they're sometimes called). Players form teams of 3 and show up with the goal of being the last team standing.

Apex Legends is available now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
