Apex Legends Dark Depths event starts next week

A new Arenas map is coming.

Apex Legends continued to grow in popularity throughout 2021, becoming one of the most talked about games on Twitter for the year. The free-to-play battle royale is starting the new year off with a bang, as Respawn unveiled the Dark Depths event which is set to begin on January 11. The underwater-themed addition will run until February 1 and will bring tons of cosmetics, rewards, and a brand new arena map called "Habitat." Ahead of Dark Depths' introduction next Tuesday, a trailer has been released on the official YouTube channel.

Over the three-week period of the event, players will be able to complete three separate reward trackers, each offering a set of unique collectibles from Apex Packs and Holosprays to skins. Forty new collectibles, including a range of Legendary and Epic tier skins, will be available for purchase, and Dark Depths bundles will be available for purchase for Apex Coins in the in-game store. Players will be able to purchase themed cosmetics, including legendary skins for Ash, Horizon, Fuse, and Lifeline.

The new Arenas map, Habitat, aims to be the perfect battlefield for fans of the 3v3 mode, with plenty of elevated and hidden positions. The map is aimed at long-range players or those who prefer to act more stealthily.

While some gamers are excited about the new offerings, long-time gamers have begun to lament the title's lack of additional content, with many continuing the popular "cosmetics aren't happy" mantra. Summit hasn't seen a new limited-time mode in over nine months – a bad look for a live service game.

Apex Legends is available to download on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. The game supports cross-play and will be released on iOS and Android devices in 2022. The Battle Royale-hero free-to-play shooter has been hugely successful since its release in 2019, surpassing 25 million players by the end of its run. first week. . As of April 2021, Apex Legends has around 100 million players. The game saw a surge in popularity when Season 11: Escape released in October 2021, which introduced Titanfall's Ash as a new Legend along with the new Storm Point map.
